Registration is required unless noted as a 'drop-in' course. Children and youth courses will be listed in the description. All materials provided unless otherwise stated. Payments can be made through links to Universe, EventBrite, in-person with cash or credit, or through email transfer/paypal at inprint.collective@gmail.com.  If paying in person or electronically, please let us know via email first!

Our studio is located at 58 Wade Ave, Unit 8a, Toronto, Ontario.

Class sizes are small, often between 4 to 8 depending on the course. For this reason, we maintain a strict refund policy, outlined below:

REFUND POLICY: Refunds available up to 48 hours prior to class start. We will also refund day of ONLY in the case of illness (honour system, thanks!), but you must tell us same day with an email prior to the start of class. We will also refund in the case of our own cancelations. No refunds or credits if you no-show without notice indicated here. Missed classes in multi-day courses do not qualify for discounts/refunds.

We will be continuing to enforce a mask policy in the studio for workshops for the foreseeable future!

Print Studio 101

Wednesdays, Oct 2 to Oct 30 2024 (5 weeks)

Welcome to the Print Studio! Perfect for beginners or experienced printmakers looking to brush up, this course introduces the atelier experience to students. A range of both traditional print media and alternative methods will be explored in these 5 weeks, including the photo emulsion screen print method, cyanotype, and relief printing with a press. Learn a range of techniques from experienced artist and printmaker Shannon Moynagh, who will mentor students through technical and engaging projects! All materials supplied for the run of this course. Students taking this class are welcome to become renters in the studio.

Intro to Silkscreen (One Day Intensive)

Interested in screen but intimidated by the process? In this workshop, you'll receive an intensive introduction to emulsion-based silkscreen and demystify the practice so you can do it at home. Learn what you need to know about the basic set-up and supplies, coating and exposing screens, as well as pulling a basic one-layer print. All supplies, including screens to use in class are provided. Students can bring their own drawings ready to expose, or use provided templates to just get the hang of the process. Drawings should not have an image size bigger than 7" x 10" and should be black and white only, no tones or shadows. 

Perfect for beginners or printmakers who need a refresher. Suitable for older teens and adults.

Play-Brick Printmaking

Get experimental with inPrint in a fun, family friendly, printerly way! 

Explore an alternative way of block printing using play bricks. A blend of pixel art and printmaking, you will be shown how to make an image with play bricks as well as how to print and register your paper. Turn your favourite childhood building toys into an image block for a fabulous, accessible and creative style of printmaking. You will be creating and designing your own image or message to print in multiples and take home. Don't forget to wear your shoes - no one likes to step on a Lego play brick! This workshop is family-friendly; children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult (please reach out for a discount double-ticket, available only for caregiver and children under 14 combos).

All materials are included with class fee. 

Intro to Screenprint (5 Weeks)

Wednesdays, November 6th to December 4th, 2024 

6pm to 9pm

FEE: $350 plus tax

Cyanotype: Photo-based Print

Cyanotype is a photographic printing process, wherein a negative is used to create a blue print from photosensitive materials and light. During this workshop you will learn how to take photos from your camera, convert to negative, then print beautiful cyanotype prints from your cherished photos. All skill levels welcome, we encourage everyone to join us in discovering new modes of artistic expression.

*Please bring 1 or 2 photos of your choice to work with to our workshop in digital format (usb key or you can retrieve through email on our studio laptop); all other materials are included with class fee.

Cardmaking (Relief Print)

Nothing like getting a handmade card for a holiday or any other special day in your life!

 

Join inPrint as we show you how to use basic relief (think carving!) print cards for the holidays.

 

Surprise your family and friends with handmade holiday, birthday or just because cards, printed by you! You will be taught the printmaking process and create custom cards. You will be leaving this workshop with four to six hand printed cards, just in time to mail out to family or friends. All materials will be provided, and you'll also get to take home your block so you can keep on printing later.

Mini-Maker Weekend Intensive

MAKE IT SMALL WITH INPRINT!

Join us for a magical weekend of making art in miniature! We'll make three projects together, perfect as handmade gifts to your loved ones, or even just to add to your own collection of art. This weekend will focus on three techniques including cyanotype, bookbinding and drypoint printmaking. Learn how to set up a portable cyanotype station to keep making blueprints all year long; make a miniature hardcover book that you can keep as an ornament or necklace or for your tiniest of libraries; learn to use the famous 3D-printed Open Press etching presses that fit in the palm of your hand and engrave a tiny little drypoint using upcycled tetrapak as the plate. 

All materials are included with class fee.

Sessions available for artists interested in working in screen print or who want private instruction on relief, cyanotype, or introductory bookbinding processes.

Studio Sessions (Daily Rental Rate), $35
 

  • This is non-instructional time, but a member of the collective is in the studio to monitor the space

  • This is a five hour long period to work on your project

  • includes a brief orientation if new to the space, access to presses, screen tables, light tables, wash out sink, squeegees, rags, acetate for screen registration

  • Does not include use of screens, emulsions, studio paper (including positives) or ink 

  • Open to past workshop students or residents, or can demonstrate strong familiarity with the process

  • Great for folks looking to book only one or two days to work in the studio

  • Storage not included (you must leave with all your supplies that you bring)

Availability of sessions: by appointment only

Instructional Mentorship/Artist Support, $35/hour

  • Hours required to be determined upon booking

  • Can be used for intensive lessons/print mentorship OR for support in printing a project. 

  • If booked for artistic support, artist must be active and lead the needs of the project. InPrint member is there to help and to offer technical assistance but the artist will be expected to participate and guide in the goals of the printing session

  • Does not include use of screens, emulsions, studio inks and paper (including for positives)

  • Artist must provide own paper or textiles for project

Availability: by appointment only

Add-Ons:

$5 for emulsion/vellum use (up to 5 uses of each). 50 cents for extra usages per need.
$3 for day-of, in studio screen rentals. 
$20 for total package use of screens (up to 2), ink (edition and colour limits may apply), emulsion and vellum for positives.
